Bongani Necklace Black

An eye-catching basic for your jewellery collection. The Bongani Necklace is a timeless mille collines jewellery piece, the first one was designed in 2009 and has not left our collection ever since. This uniquely crafted necklace is made of a sisal disc handwoven by women weavers in Rwanda, it is then mounted in a hand carved brass setting in Kibera, Nairobi.

Sisal is a natural fibre derived from the leaves of the ‘agave sisalana’ cactus plant; it is commonly used in Rwanda for the weaving of baskets, carpets and has also been used in traditional architecture.Our brass is made from old padlocks that are melted in high heat then poured into a mould, the sample is then polished through a process called electroplating where a coating is put on the item to prevent the brass from changing colour.

This statement pendant necklace hangs on a genuine leather string that has two adjustable knots to adjust the necklace to your preferred length. This is a must have when it comes to accessories, as it goes perfectly with everything there is in your wardrobe.
