Our very first collection was born in the Winter of 2007 in Rwanda. One of the intricate pieces from this collection currently resides in our Flagship store in Nairobi (Village Market).
This piece has a wonderful back story to it.
This Jacket was hand embroidered by a group of disabled women using 100% cotton thread. This amazing group of women form part of the Aprohade Embroidery Cooperative; nestled in the back of a Catholic Church in the outskirts of Nyamarambo. This organisation was founded in 1995 by Agnes and Monica who were looking to rebuild their lives after the Genocide. Since then Aprohade has grown steadily providing income and work to women looking to rebuild their lives.
This work of art also features Wax African Print on Vinage Wool. A beautiful mix of love and dedication as well as hard work, details and incredible craftsmanship. Here is where the MC story began in 2007.
